Hello. My name is Nikki MacCallum and I am the owner of NikkiDesigns, a company that makes custom home decor products, specializing in organic fabrics. 
Backround:
After obtaining my diploma in Fashion Design and Merchandising, I operated a custom-sewing and alterations business in Vancouver, B.C. for several years, plus taught adult and children’s sewing classes.
In 1994 I moved to Vancouver Island with my husband and 3 daughters. I received training from a professional drapery workroom and have since worked with several top interior designers in Nanaimo, Duncan, Parksville and Victoria, creating window coverings, pillows, slipcovers and bedding for show homes, businesses, and residential homes all over Vancouver Island. In 2009 I completed a program in Interior Design and Decorating in order to provide my clients with even more services.
My philosophy:
I have always loved to work with natural fabrics and have been encouraging my clients to make eco-friendly fabric choices whenever possible for many years. The more I find out about the harmful effects that the chemicals and pesticides used in growing conventional cotton have on the environment, the workers, and the end users of the fabric, the more I advocate the use of organic fabrics like hemp, organic cotton, silk and linen (read more info under Articles). Have you ever bought an item for your home only to find that after one wash it has fallen apart or shrunken? In 2007 I started selling my hand-crafted home decor products online because I wanted to provide a place where people could shop from someone who really cared about what they wanted. A place where someone takes the time to listen, and then carefully construct your item herself from high quality fabrics that are pre-shrunk and washable. I believe in making products that will last, that are timeless, and fairly priced.
